The gym enjoys a sloping plot, which is convenient to insert a half-buried volume with many advantages:

  • it is discrete and buried in the neighbourhood of an overlooking nineteenth century building,
  • thermal comfort through inertia and the natural insulation of its walls close to the ground: there, the room temperature is a constant 14° without heating in winter,
  • accessibility to disable citizen without steps nor elevator, with an access to the gym on the down slope from the existing basketball pitch.

The volume is simple, unostentatious. This is a cuboid timber frame whose emerging part of the ground is covered with translucent polycarbonate which ensures perfect transmission of natural light in the room.

The project is an extension of an existing toilet block which has a positive effect on the building costs.
